Built by a noble Lucca family, this beautiful home sits atop a serene hill just 4 km from Lucca's historic city walls. A perfect blend of tradition and tranquility, it’s a family-friendly retreat where vintage charm and natural beauty come together to create an unforgettable experience.
Although not a luxury villa, Villa Gattaiola exudes warmth and character, making it an ideal spot for families seeking a peaceful getaway. The villa is enveloped in lush greenery, offering absolute quiet and privacy, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. You’ll be immersed in the beauty of nature, with the gentle sounds of birds and the sight of ancient trees all around. There are also plenty of scenic walking and hiking trails nearby, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts.
The villa consists of two floors designed with comfort and simplicity in mind:
GROUND FLOOR: An original living room, a separate kitchen, and a spacious dining room with French windows that open to the garden and rolling hills. There are two comfortable double bedrooms, each with a king-size bed, and two bathrooms. The rooms are naturally cool, even in summer, and are not equipped with air conditioning, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The fully-equipped kitchen includes everything needed for a homely stay, such as a microwave, coffee machine, toaster, stove, dishwasher, and a range of cooking utensils. Additional amenities like iron, ironing board, and Wi-Fi ensure convenience throughout your stay.

I booked the Villa Gattaiola so that family from Europe, New Zealand and USA could meet in Tuscany. There were 11 of us and we immensely enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of space, grand sized family room, dining room, 7 bedrooms and great character. There were also excellent outdoor facilities and a very modern pool. I’m not sure anything was missing. You can’t go wrong with this villa!

Amazing villa, very private. Pool area is amazing. Sat out every night watching the fireflies. Great service from Maria who helped us sort transfers when ours let us down. Even came to the villa at 2.30 a.m. to make sure we got away ok. Kitchen well see more

Would recommend taking citronella incense sticks for sitting out at night. Beware taxis/ pizza delivery find it hard to get there.

My family of 10 (2 grandparents, 4 adults, 4 children) all had a wonderful time at this property! Monica (the property manager) was excellent to work with - very responsive and helpful. The space is incredible, offering a really nice layout and a nice master on the first floor that was nice for my parents (73, 75) and plenty of space for the kids. Each room was incredibly comfortable and all but one bedroom upstairs had an AC splitter. The pool was even more beautiful then the pictures! We did lose the hot water on the 2nd floor one evening and someone was at the house by 10am fixing it. They were so kind and I was so impressed by how quickly they resolved it. Monica also recommended a few chef's that new the space well and did an amazing job. I especially enjoyed chef Alice (i cannot stress how much we enjoyed her cooking!!!) so if you have a large group, i would definitely recommend it! One note that maybe should be mentioned at check in. There are two places in the Lucca area that have the exact same address according to GPS so a few times taxis drove us all over the place!! When ordering a cab, you definitley need to say GATTAIOLA along with the address. Also, the best app to get a taxi is appTaxi. Everytime we tried to call for a taxi - there was no answer. Again, I cannot express how much we loved this property and hope to come back again!

We couldn’t believe how lucky we were with the property. The views were amazing, the house beautiful and clean and the pool (once the weather had warmed up!) was much enjoyed. It was so close to Lucca and we took the 6 children with us, aged from 2-7see more

It was so close to Lucca and we took the 6 children with us, aged from 2-7, into the town for ice creams, pizzas and a very fun bike ride around the wall. Mrs Daniela was fantastic and even came to rescue us when we got lost... 2 minutes away from the villa! Thank you for such a lovely holiday, we can’t hold anyone responsible for May having the worst weather in 20 years, as all the locals kept telling us.
