VILLA BICOCCHE, which appears like something out of a children's fairytale, is situated in a rather strategic position, that is, within the golden triangle of Lucca, Pisa and the best beaches.
In ancient times the villa and surrounding estate belonged to an antique noble family from Lucca. The villa and estate are testament to centuries of Tuscan history. While witness to the changing politics of the region over hundreds of years, the villa has always maintained the local respect for the land and provided work and shelter to countless generations.
The structure has been recently completely renovated and improved, both inside and out, with the construction of a beautiful new garden and swimming pool. Soft colors have been used to enhance the exterior and blend well with the surrounding grounds and woods; inside, the atmosphere is one of country elegance, decorated using rich and refined colors and antique pieces.
The villa is immersed in the greenery and peace that the Tuscan countryside is famous for. At the same time, it is close to the conveniences found in town. In fact, traveling down a beautiful tree-lined road, one arrives at the first medieval village just a kilometer away, which is very famous for the enchanting roads and squares and for several bespoke restaurants and beautiful view of the valley, while at a distance of 7 km you find the beach, with its sandy beaches, shops, restaurants with seaview and kid-friendly establishments. Lucca city centre is located at only 15/20 mins by car (nearly 17 kms).
Decorative plants with brightly colored flowers have been used for the newly designed garden, where they brighten and liven the atmosphere.
The large pool (12 metres x 6 metres - chlorine free water operating with salted water- set in the olive grove) offer guests the possibility to enjoy swimming or a relaxing bath: at the edge of the pool, terraced landscaping provides for a lovely sundeck where one can take in the warm Tuscan sun and enjoy the lovely panorama. The grounds right outside the kitchen are also host to an area equipped for outdoor dining with a barbeque, table, chairs, sofas and 2 loungers – the perfect spot for a cheerful meal among family and friends.
The interior of the villa is characterized by a warm and welcoming atmosphere: drapes, wooden antique furniture, large comfortable beds and comfortable couches. All the furnishings have been chosen with care and taste, offering up a harmonious mix of traditional comfort and modern practicality.
The ceilings are original: on the ground floor we find beamed ceilings in the area that was once the cellar. The spacious kitchen is well-equipped with a wide range of cooking utensils and appliances. A dishwasher and all the necessary items that a holiday chef might need to feel at home. The bathrooms are spacious and provides both a built-in shower and a bathtub, with carefully selected fixtures that render them particularly pleasant and functional.
My aunt, Giuliana (in her 70s), lives in the detatched attic of the villa. She has a separate entrance and staircase. She is available for any need during the stay of my guests and loves to take care of the garden and pool maintenance.
The house, the garden and the pool are not sharing. We rent the property to only 1 party per time so privacy is never compromised. My aunt does not use the pool or the garden.
A very reliable wifi connection provided by the national phone company is available for free as well. The 3 bedrooms are all air conditioned.

We really enjoyed our week at the Villa Bicocche, the weather was perfect for us, around the mid-20's with most days sunny with just onetwo cloudy and one day with a nit of rain. But we could eat outside every meal thanks to the covered veranda on one side and gazebo on the other. The pool really made the holiday, with several days spent lazing on the sun loungers reading books, and dipping in the pool. The children really enjoyed the pool inflatable toys as well. Mosquito's weren't too bad, but on the last dayso we became more aware of them so taking insect repellent and bite cream is a good idea. If you have young children there is a pond ( with a fence around with gaps in) so that does need keeping an eye on. The house was well equipped with everything we needed, and felt like an authentic Italian family home. Found a lovely local restaurant ( Antico Frantoio ) which was great value, very hospitable and perfect for a family meal with young children.

Beds are pretty old but you get used to them and considering how incredible the rest of the experience is, it was fine. Wake up with roosters from a nearby house, beautiful sunlight and pastries at the town nearby. Soak in the pool and eat at the delicious restaurant up the hill.

Wir haben mit unseren Töchtern (14J, 18J) knapp 14 Tage in dieser wunderschönen Villa verbracht. Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich die Küche, Esszimmer, Wohnzimmer, Bad und Speisekammer. Im 1. OG die drei Schlafzimmer und ein weiteres Bad. Alles sehr liebver más
Wir haben mit unseren Töchtern (14J, 18J) knapp 14 Tage in dieser wunderschönen Villa verbracht. Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich die Küche, Esszimmer, Wohnzimmer, Bad und Speisekammer. Im 1. OG die drei Schlafzimmer und ein weiteres Bad. Alles sehr liebevoll (toskanischer Stil mit vielen Antiquitäten) und reichhaltig (auch die Küche) ausgestattet. Die Besitzer, ein älteres Ehepaar, wohnen im 2. OG und sind supernett (zwar nur wenig Englisch, aber kein Problem dank (Hidden by Airbnb) ). Privatsphäre ist garantiert. Das Besondere daran ist allerdings die Außenanlage. Ein großer gepflegter Garten mit Olivenhainen, Zitronen- und Feigenbäume und der große private Pool. Genau das, was wir gesucht haben zum Entspannen und Runterkommen. Das Meer ist ca. 25 Minuten entfernt, auch nach Lucca ist es nicht weit.

Die Poolanlage und der Garten mit den Olivenbäumen für unsere Kinder ein Traum zum spielen. Der Sitzplatz zum Wohnbereich lädt zu gemütlichen Abenden ein. Schade ist, dass man nicht wirklich eine grosse Aussicht hat und auf dem Grundstück der Strommasten steht. Dennoch würden wir dieses Feriendomizil jederzeit weiterempfehlen.

The garden and grounds were beautifully maintained and the swimming pool was wonderful. The whole of the property was delightful, as were the owners Mario and his wife , who though on site kept themselves to themselves and allowed us to enjoy ourselves uninterrupted. The property is well situated for day trips to Florence, Pisa, Lucca , all of which were fabulous. And locally the ancient town of Camaiore had everything we needed. The only down side of the holiday was the noise from the barking dogs in properties nearby,but once you accept that and enjoy the bird song there was no problem. The high light of the holiday was an open air concert in nearby Viareggio featuring Andrea Botcelli at the Puccini festival . A perfect end to a lovely Italian holiday. |

We spent a wonderful week in Sonia's Bicocche Farmhouse. It's in a beautiful area of Tuscany only a short way from Lucca and from the Beaches of lido Di Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio and the breathtaking Cinque Terre with other places such as Pisa, Florence, San Gimignano and Volterra as well as the villages of the Chianti region all within an hourso's drive. Whilst the villa is in a quiet, unspoilt rural area, access to major roads is quick and easy which all adds to the ease with which you can explore this part of Tuscany. The villa is spacious and intimate. It is well equipped and has a real sense of character about it. It lies in lovely grounds with pool garden surrounded by the quietness that everyone needs to recover after a busy year. The outlook is across meadows and olive groves which we loved. We particularly enjoyed watching hoopoes feeding on the grass and redstarts nest building in the trees! It’s lovely to have a car to have daily trips (or at least to drive to the train station in 10-15 mins) while Camaiore and the close by Montemagno, the villages in which the villa lies, are lovely villages with several facilities and the nearest shops/supermarkets and restaurants if you want to eat out are within 5 mins driving. There is a bus at the top of the road for Lucca, but once again a car is far more convenient. In summary, the description you read of the property is accurate. It is clean and has the real sense of an old stone house. Sonia and Cristina were extremely welcoming and helpful and we would certainly recommend the property to friends and family. It would be very hard to find anything negative to say about it. Thank you to Sonia, Mario and Juliana for making us feel so welcome and making our stay absolutely incredible! The Villa was even more amazing than the pictures show, it totally took our breath away! We spent the first 10mins whilst being showed around just saying WOW! It was like a high end boutique hotel, with stunning views, and hosts ready to answer any questions and help in every way. The villa is a short dive into the centre of Lucca and from the beach, which is full of wonderful restaurants. We spent a day walking the city walls, exploring the cathedral and its cript and taking the views of the city from the top of the bell tower. We also took a train to Florence for the day, trains were easy to catch and very very cheap in comparison to the UK! And the city was beautiful an absolute must see! The icing on the cake was the special breakfast Juliana prepared for us on our final morning. It really finished our stay perfectly and was so thoughtful. I could not have wished for a better weekend away celebrating my Boyfriends birthday! An area really worth visiting, especially if you book this flat! I can't wait to arrange coming back in the summer months! Thanks again!
